I strongly believe that the best way to see the world is by bike! More and more people are discovering the benefits of seeing the world in an active way, as well as getting away from the traditional tourist ‘sights’ and experiencing a country first-hand. There is so much to see in Japan and so many people around the world are interested in Japan – it is the perfect environment in which to develop a culture of cycle tourism. Customers going on cycling holidays have expectations that need to be understood and catered for and these can be a challenge to provide. I hope I can use my understanding of these issues and experience in selling these types of holidays to help grow cycle tourism in Japan.

サイクルツーリズムの世界的なマーケットで、日本は近年急速に人気が高まっています。Freedom Treksでは世界中のツアーを販売しておりますが、日本への問い合わせは近年急増しています。
しかしながら、日本は宿泊施設の受入態勢やガイドといった、サイクリスト向けのサービスの普及が進んでいないため、海外からは「行きたくても簡単には行けない国」になっているということに、外国人向けツアーの造成販売をする過程で気付きました。全国の自治体がサイクルツーリズム振興を進めていますが、ツーリズムを謳うのであれば、自転車と一緒でも不自由なく旅行や滞在を長期で楽しめるためのサービスの整備が喫緊の課題だと思われます。
